Finger Lakes visitors that have stayed at the Starkey House have posted great reviews on TripAdvisor and Bed & Breakfast.com.
After opening only two years ago the house, food, and area seem to be what everyone is looking for when it comes to a peaceful country setting with views of Seneca Lake, delicious, freshly made breakfasts, easy access to wine tasting, waterfalls, museums, and downtown markets.
Farm to table, freshly prepared breakfasts are personally made by yours truly. No "help yourself" buffets or continental-style
breakfasts here!
One of my favorite breakfasts to serve is quiche made in
a variety of ways. This morning I broke my anonymity by having a picture taken just to show you that I really exist. It was the supurb turnout of the spinach and mushroom quiche that encouraged me to take some credit!
The house is located on the west side of Seneca Lake just twelve minutes from Watkins Glen, fifteen minutes from Penn Yan, and only twenty minutes from the village of Hammondsport.
The central location is mentioned over and over again by guests wanting to experience the Keuka, Seneca, or Cayuga Lakes wineries as well as the many fine dining establishments in the region. It's easy to get to most everything, including places like Watkins Glen State Park or the Corning Museum of Glass, within forty minutes or much less. So if you can only stay two or three nights, you can fit a lot in.
September and October are just as busy in the region due to visitors wanting to catch the fall leaf change colors and the grape harvest. You can smell the grapes in the air just driving through on a warm, sunny day.
But I don't want you to just drive through. Instead, stop and stay for a couple or a few days! The Finger Lakes Region has become a very attractive vacation destination.

Wake up to a great breakfast served by Owner/Innkeeper Cathy. This morning is spinach/mushroom quiche with sharp farmer's cheddar (locally sourced), bacon strips and freshly baked blueberry scones. |
